One of China's most famous Oolong teas, our SHUI Xian is an exquisite “Rock – Jancha” Oolong tea from the WUYI Shan region of Fuijan province.

Shui Xian: 水仙  means ‘narcissuses’ or ‘water sprite’ in English.

Abbey Tea’s Shui Xian Yancha Oolong comes from one of the five protected designation areas on WuYi Shan mountain. The tea bushes are planted and grow in a natural ecological envirment, free from pesticides and fertilisers and the sub-tropical temperatures and fertile, rocky soil produce a tea of exceptional quality. There are in total  five of these protected areas, with the other teas being DA Hong PAO (BIG RED ROBE), ROU GUI, etc. Our Shui Xian comes from Huo Yan Shan and is harvested at an altitude over 500 m.

The tea leaves are handpicked from bushes which are over 40 years old. After withering, pan-frying and rolling the resulting tea has a slight narcissus fragrance and orchid aroma. The taste is fresh with a long lasting sweet aftertaste. It has a unique mellowness and smoothness. The tea is characterized by deep sweetness, pronounced mineral notes and unique flavor. The Yancha properties come from the specific rocky soil, which is also responsible for this tea’s characteristic mineral character. Furthermore all Yancha teas have their specific processing method which results in the medium to high oxidation level.

This Imperial SHUI XIAN JANCHA Oolong is a high grade version and highly sought after by many tea connoisseurs.

Our tea is sold in multiple packs of 50g.

My first Fuijan Oolong, I wanted to try something a little more fermented and was not disappointed. This is a really nice mellow Oolong which I'm happy to alternate with a good Shou Pu erh for my morning mediation.
