Oriental Beauty Oolong
Taiwan - Sanxia town, New Taipei City
One of Taiwan’s most famous Oolong tea is the ORIENTAL BEAUTY, also known as DONG FANG MEI REN, BAI HAO, White Tip Oolong, Champagne Oolong or PONG FONG CHA.
Grown on tea farms in Sanxia, New Taipei City at altitudes of between 300 – 800 meters, where the humidity and sunshine produce one of the best authentic Oriental Beauty Tea. The leaves are harvested manually in April, semi fermented and mildly roasted, and the dry hairy leaves range in colour from dark purple and brown to white.
This unique tea is grown on pesticide free tea farms to encourage the Small Green Leafhopper (Jacobiasca formosana) to feed on the leaves and buds, which gives the tea it’s unique flavour. The buds turn white along the edges which gives the tea it’s alternate name, White Tip Oolong. The insect bites start the oxidation of the tea giving it a sweet taste.
With natural fruit and honey aroma’s and a creamy mellow balanced taste, this very special tea could be saved for birthday’s or other special occasions, but such an exquisite, beautiful, classic Oriental Beauty deserves to be enjoyed on a daily basis.
Our tea is sold in multiple packs of 50g.
