2020 BAN ZHANG DA SHU (raw)
China - Ban Zhang Shan, Menghai county, Yunnan province
This is a very fresh, light, affordable raw Pu erh tea cake from the famous Menghai tea region of BAN ZHANG, which is regarded as one of the best for growing Pu erh tea.
The tall tea trees grow in an ecological environmental plantation, free from pesticides and fertilisers at altitudes of between 1200 -1300 metres. Usually, tea produced from ancient arbour trees at high altitudes is of a much better quality and taste.
Carefully selected for day to day drinking, the leaves from individual farmers are blended at GAO SHAN YUAN Tea factory to produce this very special, excellent value, smooth Pu erh tea, which has a great mix of flavours and a clear tea liquid.
It is ready to drink now but may be laid down to age further. The whole large leaves are hand-picked from ancient arbour trees of between 100-200 years old, sun-dried, withered and pressed in stone moulds.
The resulting tea is soft and sweet with a floral aroma and a sweet, floral, slightly aniseed taste.
