2007 BING DAO (ripe)
China - Xiban Shan mountain, Bingdao area, MengKu town, Lincang county, Yunnan province
This highest quality, aged ripe Pu erh cake is from the Xiban Shan mountain in Bingdao area, (literally translated "Bing Dao" means "Ice Island"). The whole large leaves are hand picked from wild Arbour trees at high altitudes where cool nights produce a tea of exceptional quality.
From a pesticide free ancient tea forest, the wild leaves are sun dried and pressed in stone moulds in the traditional way. The Tea cakes of 357g are pressed and packed at the Old Tree Tea Factory in Menghai.
The ancient trees are cared for by the local farmers, who climb the trees to cut off surplus branches which are then piled around the trees' root to provide a natural fertiliser when rotted. The resulting tea is pure in origin and tastes strong, pleasant and energising with a certain aromatic flavour, subtly transforming into a thick honey sweetness. It has a certain astringency which helps digestion, making it the perfect cup of tea to enjoy after a meal.
This is a most highly prized sought after, difficult to purchase very pure Pu erh.
