2015 YU XIAN - (ripe)
China - NAN NUO SHAN, Menghai county, Yunnan province
From NAN NUO SHAN mountain, this is a mellow, refreshing ripe Pu erh that may be laid down to develop additional flavours or drunk now.
NAN NUO SHAN mountain is famous in China and is home to the "King of Tea Tree", an 800 + year old tree, which has a long history of growing tea going back to the Tang Dynasty.
The ancient arbour trees grow in a pesticide-free forest where the mild climate, sunshine and foggy days produce a tea of outstanding quality.
The whole large leaves are from BAN PO ZHAI village, picked in 2015 and stored under ideal conditions for two years to further mature. This is a superb, mellow, smooth, aged puerh cake which was stone mould pressed in 2017 using high quality sun-dried leaves from ancient arbour trees and pressed MANLUAN.
The resulting tea has an aroma of flavours like a six course meal, and may be laid down for these flavours to develop even further.
