LAN BO YU LU mini cake (white Pu erh)
China - Bada mountain, Xishuangbanna county, Yunnan province
BADA mountain is situated in the south west of Yunnan, bordering Myanmar/ Burma and is regarded as one of the famous 12 tea mountains in Xishuangbanna. It’s highest elevation reaches 2,200 m and the LAN BO YU LU Abbey Tea has chosen for you was harvested at an altitue of 1,400 m. The BADA mountain range is prone to thick fog every year between April and October. It’s an ideal environment for growing an imperial grade tea.
The big tea companies based in Menghai have taken over large areas for their own Pu erh tea production, but there are still areas where the small tea farmers harvest and produce their tea in the ancient tradition.
Abbey Tea’s LAN BO YU LU was harvested and processed by Mr. Yu Biao in the Manmai region, using hand–picked leaves from wild arbor trees (荒野白茶).
Processing white tea is a two step operation, withering and sun-drying. No panfrying and rolling. After natural sun-drying the leaves are pressed into a mini disc with 2 wafers. Each disc is approx. 8g in weight and can be broken by hand, without a knife.
White tea has the highest level of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and is recognised by many medical institutions for its anti-cancer health benefits. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine to cool body heat and flush out toxins.
The resulting tea is an ultra-smooth white tea. The cup has a subtle sweetness, is well balanced and the leaves can be infused several times. When brewed, the tea has a mild orchid aroma and a delicate, sweet taste, making it a good choice for a relaxing beverage in the workplace and at home.
Our Tea is sold in multiple packs of 50g.
